Yesterday i tried starting my car and the accesories worked, lights worked, cd player worked, dome lights worked, heater worked, the car just wouldn't turn over, it would make this clicking sound, then i go to check my battery with a DMM and it said 12.6 volts and i'm scratching my head wondering how the **** this could be cuz my alternator is 130 amps and it's stock and then i look on my battery and it says October 2002 date, i'm thinkin it's my battery or my starter solenoid, any ideas wtf is goin on with this? this has never happened before to me. should i check the fuse boxes to see if any are blown as well like the starter relay one? any help appreciated. thanks

Does the lights / gauges dim when you turn the key into the start position? If you're hearing clicks then that IS your starter solenoid working just fine, but may not be conducting past that point to the starter or the starter not functioning in general. Id look at the connections from the stater solenoid to the starter itself, making sure its a good solid clean connection. Usually if your lights dim a bit when you put the key into the start position, that means your electrical system is under load from the starter indicating that it might just be a problem of the battery not getting enough amperage to the starter, or the starter has failed.

Reading voltage on the battery at 12.x doesnt mean too much, its the amperage that turns the starter over.

hope that helps some homie

yeah that helps alot man, idk i'ma go see if the lights do that or not, so it has nothin to do with the alternator then bein the problem?

ok i went outside to my car, the dash lights when i try to turn the ignition dimmed just a little bit and i heard that dreadful click again so my starter is prolly shot. should i still check the fuse boxes to see if any are blown maybe?

No?

They're not that expensive and show you how to fix/work on d@mn near every part of the car.

(you're right..its cheaper to just walk. Or take it to a mechanic. :| right. )
