Hi, would someone be kind enough to tell me what would happen to box tuning if I decrease this box from 17.75x32x19 which is 4.5^3 tuned to 33hz to somewhere around 16x32x19. The thing is my trunk opening is only so big and 16" is the max that would fit thorugh it. I can have something like 16x33x20. Anyhelp would be nice.

Basically i just need to know if i shirk it down to 16x32x19 would the tuning be super off to like 40hz or 25hz, i already know the box would decrease down to like 3.somthing.

I know (HxWxD)/1728 is volume not counting wood thickness. But I don't know about tuning.

Anyways. Thanks

EDIT:

I did some more readings, so decreasing box volume would increase the tuning?

With box volume the same increasing the port will increase tuning, but this of course means increasing port=decreasing box vol with same outer dimensions?

You could make the port a little longer and keep the same tuning if you wanted, if not it will raise your tuning point slightly.

looks like they didn't account for driver displacement.

i get 4.38ft^3 @ 38Hz for that box to spec.

after the change:

3.89ft^3 @ 40.5Hz

also with a 16" tall box, you won't be able to fit the 14-1/16" driver cutout between the top and bottem piece.

ummmm ya he could....

16-1.5=14.5, let alone if he didnt sandwish the front face in between the top and bottom, he still has a full 16.....

oops, yeah, my bad. for some reason i was thinking 14, but he's fine.

They took into consideration for driver displacement. It tells you in the front of the tech manual
according to may calculation it's exactly 4.5ft^3 before driver dislacement. maybe i did something wrong?

Guess what, heres my crazy idea. I'm going to keep everything the same and try to fit it in by takeing the back seats out and putting the box in then put the seats back on.

If that doesn't work the final outter dimensions would be 16.25x32x19

what kinda car do you have? if it dont fit thru the opening in the trunk, chances are it wont fit through the opening in the car. just a heads up, but do some measurements, and be sure to take depth into consideration before you rely on putting it through that opening

can someone tell me what i'm doing wrong here
Fb.jpg
where : Av = 3x16.25

Lv = 14.75

Vb = 4.5
Vb [in^3]

you have Vb in ft^3 so multiply by 12^3 or 1728

this should give you Fb = 37.68

I got 4.59 with out the displacement of the braces.(16.25x30.5x17.5)/1728 = 5.01

5.01-.42=4.59
[16.25 * 60.5 * 17.5] / 1728 = 5.019

[3.75 * 16.25 * 14] / 1728 = 0.494

5.019 - 0.494 = 4.525

after the bracing, you're probably down to 4.5 before driver displacement.

hope i didn't mess up there //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

yeah, measure first, i know it wouldn't help at all to try and go through the seat opening.
