Worst car audio products of all time

i no that nobody will agree but i dont be likin FI. I think they a little high priced and plain. my friend had some btls and they got loud but they really sounded bad. When i say sounded bad I mean they slapped on every stroke. this pop was louder than the bass. He scored 148.1db sealed on the dash at 38hz with a termlab but that didnt matter. it was just rough to listen to. I also think they looked cheap. Everything but the magnet that is.
Some retard probably fused his grounds.

I wasn't a fan of the BLs but I think the guy who traded them to me had a really ****** box built for them. Regardless, they were a temp trade setup until teh Sundownz went in/nobody wanted to give me a fair price on the BTLs I was trying to sell.

radio shack car audio gear.
I worked at radio shack back in like 1997 and got my first audio gear there. The amp was like 10% THD and the woofers were pretty low budget.
Same here my first system came from radio shack Optimus speakers amps subs I thought I was pimping

Currently running a slightly beat up old RF 300.2 amp to power my alpine type R 12 until I can order my SKAR VVX15 and SK1500.1/build box, sounds decent for only

ppi made a nice one back in the day
There were a lot of really good in dash crossovers, but crossovers shouldnt be something thats within easy reach to play with on a daily basis, they should be set and forget.

It wouldnt have been bad if the manufacturers had made something like a screw on plexi cover to keep people from messing with them once they were set.

^^ You're kidding right? Maybe if you like to set your system to be flat as possible on a RTA, but if you like to Listen to your music.....you're going to want to fiddle with the EQ depending on the song/genre. Some music is recorded really hot on the vocals, symbols or snare.....its nice to be able to dial that down or up, depending on the recording. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
Its not an EQ, its a crossover.

Crossovers are supposed to be set to match the speakers, and then not played with after wards.

they were popular in a time where hu's didnt have sub controls and there were no remote gain control for amps. i had one and liked it. also it was a space saver along with some cool install options.....like flush mounting them in arm consols etc.

MTX 4500 and 5500 series subs from about 4yrs ago. God, I can't even begin to tell you how many returns we got. And before someone says 'user error'...in many cases wer replaced the 5500's w/ Pheonix Gold rsd's and DID NOT see returns. Hell, I had VERY few returns on the old Autotek SS-series subs that same year, far less than the MTX 4500's. Thats one of the many reasons we no longer carry MTX. The T5601's liked to go pop too. Never had trouble w/ the PG600.1's though....go figure.

At least MTX had a simple fix for the return issues. Cut the cone out, write the RA# on the dustcap, send it back in an envelope, trash motor/baskets....lol. I guess shipping cost was worth more than the subs.
