Worst Car audio fad or product?

some people around here saying substage alot lately... and sql...
Yes, people do say those things a lot. They say them enough that there is an understanding what is meant which is why I don't have a problem with them. The terms may be the equivalent of saying "ain't" but I think in general the speaker and the listener understand what is meant and conveying a message is really the essence of language.

So there.

I agree. I understand the problems with both those terms, yet I still use them both. Sometimes getting the right point across, in a manner that is understood, means using a term that's imperfect. If car audio's worst flaw was people walking around talking about "SQL"... this industry/hobby would be in alot better shape than it is.

Really now? You have no idea what is meant by 'SQL'? Or, do you deny there is any sound quality above, say, 126db? People like to say there is no SQ at hhigh volume levels, and in many ways that is true. At high volume levels we simply lose alot of the audible signals/nuances/perception cues/etc that we have at moderate listening levels. But to deny there is any such thing as better, or worse, SQ at high volume levels, is simply denying reality. I guarantee someone running a pair of top quality subs, in a the proper box, being driven by a quality amp and processing, will sound better at high volume levels than cheaper subs in a lousy box being pushed by a 'dirty' amplifier. Now, if you want to refuse that this describes 'SQL', what do YOU want to call it? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif I suppose you expect people to explain that idea out every time? Or maybe you will stick your head in the sand and believe you can't hear any differences in sound quality at higher levels.
Honestly, I understand your point on this guys. But some of you lose sight of what's important here, coherant discussion. If you dislike 'SQL', give an alternative to describe the ever increasingly popular niche in the market that doesn't quite fit into a true SQ setup, but certainly doesn't fit into the SPL column either.

Hey Im sure glad on that expensive camcorder I got at circuit city that I got the super duper extended warranty that covers everything even if my kids break it or I run it over with a truck. Lot of **** good that does me now.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
