Wiring speakers to amp and headunit??

I am going to wire kenwood 6x8's to a kenwood headunit 50x4. I want to add some extra power to them. Do I just run them to the amp or to the headunit and the amp both? I could power them off the amp alone. Wouldn't it be nicer to have them wired to the headunit and to the amp. I am going to purchase a 4 channel amp. If I can and do wire them to the amp and headunit do I get 50 watts from the headunit a piece plus the additional wattage of the amp? Please help. I hope I haven't confused anybody. I need help fast.

You run RCA's from the HU to the amp, your speakers connect to the amp and only the amp.

you can't add the head unit power and amp power together.

Get the amp, don't use the head unit to power your speakers if the choice is between the two.
