Sub 15inch RF HX2:

Voice coils 2-2ohms at 500 w each

Can i wire it at 2 ohms?

How many watts do i need to reach rms at 4ohms? (500w total or 1000w total?)

How do i wire it at 1 ohm and how many watts do i need?

Does changeing the ohms mean you need more or less wattage?

 
the wattage at a certain resistance (ohms) depends on the amplifier you are using. You can wire that sub to 1ohm or 4ohms. What amp are you using?

In a circuit, the lower the impedence(ohms) the more current will flow. Think of it this way, voltage is electrical pressure, the higher the voltage, the more it pushes current. Amperage is actual current flow (electrons) flowing through the circuit. Resistance/impedence/ohms is the load (speaker) So, to use an analogy, water pressure=voltage, water=current, ohms=the size of the hose. with a bigger hose more water can flow at a given pressure.Make sense? the only difference is that electrically, as resistance DECREASES current flow increases. There are also differences in series circuits, and parallel circuits and how they use and divide available current, but one lesson for now is all I have time for. Hope that made sense and you gained some understanding. What's the point of knowing something if you can't share it right?

Exactly, for 4ohms, coils in series and you need 1000 watts, coils in parallel, you have 1ohm and need 500w.
This is confusing me the way you say it. You make it sound like if he wires his subs at 1ohm all he needs is 500wrms to power them correctly, if he wires them in 4ohms then he needs 1000wrms to power them correctly.

Guy, get an amp that supplies 1000wrms @ 1 or 4ohms. A viper d1200.1 will do you good. 1200@1ohm.
