:D
I want to do the Big 3 but don't have a car audio shop close by and they are always expensive. I went to home depot and lowes and they pretty much have the same kind of large gauge wire. They have a copper wire THHN that goes as big as 3/0. I was thinking about getting the 1/0 which is rated at 120 amps but it actually looked more like 4 gauge in terms of actual wire and the strands are super thick. They also have this other wire called aluminum urd which comes in 4 gauge and is rated at 200amps. Looking at other large subwoofer wiring, it is always a silver color like this: Elemental Designs

So should I just go with the aluminum urd 4 gauge?

Let me know. Thanks!

Ouch. How is that 1/0 rated for only 120A? And the 4 rated for 200...?

I used KnuKonceptz KLMX for my big three. Very inexpensive and I only used 4 gauge since my alt is rated for only 90 amps.

I wouldn't use the Knu ring terminals; first, because they are expensive, and second, I find traditional ring terminals difficult to work with. I prefer lugs, such as these... Impulse Electronics - Eyelet Terminals

They make soldering very easy.

It mostly comes down to weight. You can have a super lightweight cone, soft suspension and aluminum coil on a sub and you pretty much get a pro...
