will these subs and amp work together

i have a sony 1200 watt amp and am looking into getting two of the kicker 10" shallow mount subs. it says the subs are 450 watts rms each and 800 max. will the amp be fine for the subs?

Which model # of Sony amp do you have?

And what voice coil configuration are the subs?

Edit ~ I just realized you're "looking" to get the subs so I'll assume you haven't bought them yet?

this amp.......and yes just looking at subs, or if you could suggest subs for a box for 2 10s with under 4 5/8" depth and .55 space

Your amp is actually a 500 watt amp... I would look for a sub that has a rms of around 200-250. You'll probably want to get DVC 4 ohm woofers so you can wire to 2 ohms and use each channel, or wire them both to 4 and bridge the amp. I would look into maybe Resonant Engineering RE... http://www.reaudio.com

1200W peak power

500W RMS (continuous) x 1 @ 4 ohms, bridged

250W RMS (continuous) x 2 @ 2 ohms

200W RMS (continuous) x 2 @ 4 ohms

The specs on your amp. So eiher get one of the kickers you are wanting make sure it is single VC 4ohm or dual VC 2ohm. That will get you the most power from your amp. x2 on the http://www.reaudio.com and the RE series love there subs.

Marketing rockinguitar. Most cheap equipment does that, makes exorbitant max power claims but fails miserably in actual output for people who don't know better. I can't tell you how many people I've told to not tell me the max power and completely ignore it and look at RMS. Most people don't know what RMS power is and only look at max power, so cheap companies take advantage of that.

I like the pioneer shallow mount subs. They have always sounded really good. Is that a common chamber box or dual chamber box? If it is common chamber just seal up one of the holes and run 1 10" and you could port it with an aeroport not hard to do at all.

honestly not sure if the box is single or dual chamber, its being shipped to me now. i believe it has two separate chambers though

Well when you get if it is 1 chamber go with one 10" and port it with that amp. If not what kind of money do you want to spend and are you willing to go used?
