Will I need a capacitor?

Hey just wondering if i'll need a capacitor for my new system. I used to have a 600W amp running 2 12" subs and that didnt give me any electrical problems.

My new system i'll either be running like 800W RMS or 1000W RMS to 2 12" Type R's... Should I invest in a capacitor?

Please do a search.

This is an oft-debated topic wherein most respondants will tell you to do the Big 3 upgrade (details here) and invest in a good aftermarket high capacity battery.

For the same money (or less) than average retail on a capacitor you can accomplish much more good than any cap would do for you.

just do what this guy says

your car will explode
Dude ur scaring him... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif Worst is that ur battery will lose charge over time, and then dimming everytime ur music hits a beat, and then... explode.

im running 1000 watts on a type R and i dont have either upgrade....but my cars an 06 and with stock everything i can stay @ a constant 14.6-14.8 v

so to answer your question id say nah on the cap...big 3 if your getting headlight dim and what not

And if I don't do the big 3 or get a cap.. whats the worse that can happen?
If you continuously exceed the charging system's capacity then you could experience drastic headlight dimming at night when the stereo's cranked, you could potentially begin to destroy batteries and/or alternators...constantly having severe voltage drops never makes electrical equipment happy so it is possible to damage the circuitry in your car and/or your audio gear....there's heaps of things that could happen.

The above are worst-case scenario possibilities but they are possibilities nonetheless...
