Will i be happy with an 8" sub?

So I can assume that a decent 8" with a decent amp could out perform my old 10" MTX?

Also, would the sundown sa be that much better than the E series for casual use? My system is stock except I'm going to replace the head unit soon. I'll update the speakers as I can but they will probably be budget oriented. Its going in a Mazda 3.

Ok, after thinking about things I liked the AB VFL-8, but trying to figure out how to work a decent port in such a compact box seems to be problematic for experienced builders, and much more for my novice self. I started looking at looking at subs for a sealed box that I would be more comfortable building, and I am leaning towards a single Dayton HO 12 (or maybe a 10). A 12 sealed takes up roughly the same space as a ported 8. Considering the ease of building and enclosure and the larger cone size, am I correct in leaning towards the Dayton? I don't need it to be extremely loud, I just want good bass. I was pretty happy with my 10" sealed MTX and thought I might save some $ and just reuse it, but I really kind of want something newer. Any thoughts on the 12" Dayton sealed vs 8" AB ported?

^ he just did a design for my 2 hds208s. It sounds good already, and subs are still breaking in. I said screw it and wired to 0.5 and left some headroom in amp.

The few people who've heard so far were surpised its 2 8s
I'd do the 12 sealed just because OP doesnt have proper box building knowledge nor the will to even try.... OP can get a proper designed box and blueprint by @CSCStang for the 8 though.
It's not a willingness to try issue, but I'm on a budget with time and money. I know the sealed box is more forgiving, and building a second box could be challenging as our baby is due in a few weeks and I won't have time for projects for a while. My thinking was that the 12 sealed could be as good as an 8 ported, but like I said when I started the thread, I don't have a lot of experience with 8's. I do appreciate all the info.

I should say, I'm not looking to wake up an entire block. Maybe I'll get an amp for now and run the MTX I have and see how how I like the 10" sealed, and go from there. I haven't run the thing in 10 years or so.
