honestly, because sony subs are garbage, and so are kenwood.

alpine is decent, JL = FTL, theres ALOT better for cheaper.

Build Quality, power handling, wiring flexibility. Simply put, with car audio, and most other things, you get what you pay for. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of bang for your buck subs out there, but there are also a lot of crappy subs out there. Like JL over Kenwood, honestly, you can do just as good, if not better than JL for cheaper. It all depends on preferences, budget, and need.

It just takes research. JL are nice but overpriced. Alpine Type R are okay but you can find better for the money. What is better is a matter of opinion. Just please don't join the CA.com bonerwagon.
