To ask a man who labors 40 hours a week to forfeit his pay to a deadbeat, goes against what is innate within him.
What about those who cannot work for what ever reason? Shouldn't the rich be required to contribute in proportion of their income, and more, to the public expense?

its the conservative spin machine funded by the insurance companies waging a successful propaganda campaign .. stupid people are scared easily.
Stupid people are also easily convinced that forcing someone else to pay for you is reasonable.

So I'm taking this to mean you won't be accepting Medicare when you get older.

Look, you can argue that this system will work or that one is better or whatever, but don't act like a whole boatload of your life isn't already rooted in socialized programs.

Other people pay for your kids' education (probably yours, too), other people pay for your mail to get delivered, other people pay to keep your roads in good shape, other people pay the police to protect you, other people pay to keep your water clean, other people pay to make sure your food is safe, the list goes on.

It is under certain circumstance.

No one with any real power or influence would argue we should let people in the richest country in the world starve to death or die of a an easily treatable ailment.

I don't mind contributing to those who are unable to work. I have compassion for those people and don't mind helping them out. In fact, I don't think it's just the rich who need to lend a helping hand. It's those who choose not to work that grind my gears.

And as for the rich, I disagree with them being asked to give in a significantly higher proportion to everyone else. A highly progressive tax structure will reach a point where those who make lots of money are basically being punished for having wealth.

I don't even vote, and i'd go out and support a uniform health bill. Why? Because you're already paying for people's inability to pay for medical costs already thru higher patient bills on people whom do have insurance. The only differance is with goverment in control of it all the health care industry will be losing out on higher charged prices.

Ive personally seen on my own medical bills that they specifically use non-generic drugs for all treatment in order to inflate pricing.

why can't we follow the layout that canada and most european countries have?

...... Greed!!

I mean the problem will be that there are too many dumb people in this country who just see's rasing or higher taxes as a bad thing. canada has higher taxes than the US but they have FREE health care, where you dont need referrals or anything, just pick a doctor or walk in the the ER get cared for and go on your way. These people dont realize that the health insurance companies are hiring people to come to these town hall meetting to scream hell and holla, but out ridiculous banners and get into the politicians face so that they dont reform, b.c reforming will mean less money for them. The current plan calls for a increas on taxes to the top 2% of the population. So 98% of the people in this country will see NO tax increase. People are so stupid and cant see past the race of the president it sad.

P.S. In canada they give their women a 1 year maternity leave so they can raise their own child for the first year instead of a day care raising them, and they are guaranteed to have a job waiting for them when they get back

who's going to decide "those who are unable to work" and those "who choose not to work"?

After that determination has been made what do we do with the latter? Let them starve to death?

The distinction between unable to work and choose not to work is not an easy distinction, I'll give you that. I can say, though, that in a preponderance of cases, it would be pretty black and white. You know, Joe the quadriplegic versus the crackhead on the corner.

And those who choose not to work, well they're starving themselves.

its crazy how people think that they're paying for someone else's health care with the new proposal, do people not realize that unless you are in the TOP 2% EARNING INCOME POPULATION YOU WILL NOT HAVE ANY INCREASE IN TAXES, and those who are the taxes are still less than when they were in the reagan era!!!!

So who is going to decide? You cant just agree its a difficult question and then ignore it. You are the one who wants to let people starve to death so you should have a plan to decide who lives and who dies under your idea.

Truth is the US goverment has no buisness in the private sector period.

They have been pissing on the constitution for the past 150 years, and it is only going to get worse //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
