I don't think you understand his life. He never had a childhood. He never went to school. He never had that opportunity to be with his peers and develop social skills. His father was a douchebag looking to exploit him for money. He never got to do things kids do. Later in life when he had money, he wanted to relive his childhood, like owning an amusement park.

To us? Of course not. Because that isn't OUR culture. But to them, that's what they've lived since childhood (Or in this particular case, never got to live a childhood) so that's all they know.
