I will say normally I don't like PETA. But they do have a point on a few issue like Shark finning. There are a bunch of youtube's on it and there was a big article on CNN about a month ago.

Basically the Chinese, Taiwanese, and Japs have a high demand for shark fin soup. The fisherman will kill sharks by the 1000s only stripping off their top fin and occassionally the sides. The rest of the carcus is thrown away and wasted. It's pretty sick in some of these videos to see the beaches and sea floor littered with dead shark bodies.

While I know the school is not abusing these animals themselves I do not think they should encourage animal abuse especially when such young minds are so easily influenced at that age.

I spearfish and i have never killed anything that i didnt want to eat that night.

Its not like hunting on land, it requires a bit of skill (depending on the fish you want) you are out of you element(underwater) and they have the advantage. Not to mention if you act dumb or make the fish bleed.......

Its not a form of animal abuse its a form of hunting.

When you get underwater @ around 80-90ft five feet away from a 15ft shark trying to get your food, then you can speak of the subject. It kinda takes balls to spearfish......

Not to be argumentative but I don't really think we are a civilized society, There are a few that wished we were and that's about it. We are only a couple of generations removed from when hunting was the norm and exterminating a species for the sake of fashion was not only practiced but accepted.

Myself I don't hunt any more because I believe in you eat what you kill and store bought meat tastes better to me. The stuff we do in america is weak compared to other countries around the world.

The only reason they stay in the u.s. so much is because of all the asshats in the government that allow such stupid things to happen.
