well well... look what we got here.

It all starts with the base. Electric companies should create safer, stronger, more efficient power plants. It all starts with them. Not only would they be able to make more money, but they would also be able to drop their prices (at least the ones that did this) and be able to make even more money when flocks of people came to them because of their cheaper prices.
Obviously the electric companies do not agree with you. If those conversion would generate a quick bang for the buck, they would do so. They have teams of economists trying to figure this out. If there is no financial incentive to convert, they won't convert. If the govt stong arms them into converting, it won't be cheap for the consumer.

See then some small electric company needs to think outside the box, take a hit for a little bit, then when it is all ready, drop their prices and watch as they rank in millions.

I think it is about time we see another Henry Ford.

Electric companies are given monopolies by local municipalities. Have you ever heard of an electric company ad competing with another electric company? Not really as they only compete with propane/natural gas around here.

If you are considering de-regualation...try getting through to comcast's tech support.

well then someone needs to build a competing electric company. If someone who had financial backing where to successfully do that, then...he would then be a rich man with a big monopoly himself.

I know it will never happen, but if you pay them, they will come.

You can't compete with existing electric companies. They are granted monopolies and are regualted by the cities/towns/etc.

It is unlawful to build a competing electric company.
