Is the methadone clinic similar? I don't have much interest is these social programs, but only because they cost me money. We don't have drug users in our parks. It is easier to hire a hispanic with a flash light to shoo them away to someone else's park.

No. A methadone program is actually worse than a shooting gallery.

in a shooting gallery, the user provides the drugs. In a methadone clinic, the government provides the drugs.

A Methadone clinic is a "rehabilitation" program were users get dosed with Methadone which supresses opiate addiction. Methadone is a good thing when used properly...but a whole different animal when abused. Usually it ends up being a way to get junkies addicted to "legal" drugs that they have to pay the clinic for rather than buying dope on the streets.

A "shooting gallery" doesnt seem like a step towards helping addiction in my opinion. So they can go shoot up in a building rather than a park or other public place, that just means they have a safe place to shoot up. How will that help? Yes, you can point them in the right direction for treatment...that doesnt mean they will take it.

Perhaps San Fran will open a **** clinic, where rapists can bring their victims to carry out lewd acts in a clean and secure atmosphere, where free anti-contraceptive drugs would be available. Counselors and medical personel would then be standing by on site to assist victims.
