in terms of trucks, the worst were the mid-80's fords. pieces of junk. my uncle bought 2 for the farm, brand new in 1985. they've been sitting since the early 90's. my grandfather and uncle bought 2 new chevy trucks the same year to use for personal vehicles while the fords were supposed to be the work trucks. those 2 chevy's are the work trucks to this day, while the ford's have been used for parts and target practice the better part of 10 years.

Nor does it state anywhere in my post that I think so.I'm aware that both are limited by various aspects.

But I'll wager it is in direct response to Kia and Hyundai offering warranty coverage for that mileage duration which caused General Motors to follow suit. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
^^i'll agree with this^^ any car, when the maintenance is kept up, will long out last the warranty. even a kia.

My dad has a 1969 ford 1 ton dually, that he has been using a wrecker over 30 years.

It has the stock (non rebuilt) motor and transmission. The odometer stopped working at 57 000 on its third rotation!

Then you don't have much knowledge
http://www.sportscarmarket.com/profiles/2001/February/Etceterini/index.html

But most Japanese cars are still too new to have collector value.

Try finding these cars in 40 years and see how much you have to pay for them:

Acura NSX

Toyota MR2

Toyota Supra

Toyota Celica All Trac

Honda S2000

Any Z car, whether Datsun or Nissan

Skyline GTR

Mitsubishi 3000gt

Mistubishi Eclipse (not the newer gay ones)

Mitsubishi EVO

Mazda Miata

Mazda RX7

Subaru STi

And speaking of the Supra, how many 10 year old domestics are going for close to their sticker value today, like the mkIV is?

I will admit defeat here. I don't know anyone who owns those types of cars. I also don't think that any of those cars were built 200-300k at a time. I am not familair enough to say, but none of those seem to be grocery getters.

Gbodies, Bbodies where not performance cars whereras these cars seem to have performance in mind. Correct me if I am incorrect though, but I think you are comparing apples to oranges.

The exception is the Miatas. They are somewhat domestic being owned by ford.

i predict that in two years prowler is going to be back here sayin "oh my toyota is a piece of shit blah blah i hate it, why cant i put my key in and go? it never works blah blah."
Okay - what do you think is the approximate age of my car?

After you've answered that bit to yourself I'll tell you.

It's a '95 model. It currently shows 180K+ on the clock and in the four years I have owned it 90K+ of those miles showing were put on the car by me. Amazingly it exhibits none of the maladies I am supposed to expect according to you. It has averaged 22.5K miles per year since buying it. Two years from now it would have around 45K miles on it more than it does now which works out to over 200K total vehicle miles.

Well, two years from now (if I still have it) should it start to take a complete crap on me I'll be certain to let you know. But should it happen as I'm pulling my stereo gear out of it and uninstalling the alarm I'll also be thinking to myself that for 6 years and 112.5K miles later the little car will have been the best $2k I'll likely ever spend!

btw, its easy to amke a single car sell more then any other in the world... give one option.... The asian markets wont allow US auto's innto their countries without taxes that trump the initial vehicle cost... Lets see... more then half the worlds population cant even buy a US made vehicle. And untill recently you didnt even have the option to buy a US made vehicle in many countries. isnt this a bit ironic ? I know 8 people who own a toyota product. I know more but these are close family and friends... 7 yes thats 7 of them have ignition problems... The same problem that plagues all toyota ignitions. 6 Of them have had brake problems with pads not even lasting a year at a time. 4 of them have had their power steering go completly out on them before they hit 100k and two of them have had to have their ****** replaced within the first 50k (one of them had to have it replaced twice before 30k) All of these are camrys except for one avalon and a 4runner. For the american haters go live in japan commies.... If yuou look into the current vehicle reviews and drive a few new ones yourself you will see that the american vehicles are a step above as of right now.

only three things can come to mind...

A. its under a year and your just lucky so far.

B. Your full of shit like most on these boards

C. you happen to own the only toyota product that isnt plagued by all the problems 99% of toyota products have.

You do realize that both Ford and GM have plants in China and build car for the chinese.

The Ford Ka is an example of a Ford built car the Chinese drive. Irnoically, US car sales do well overseas, much better than in America due to leagcy costs incorporated into their products.

you do realize that china is shit for a auto market.... untill the big three start buying out huffy and bmx china is a null segment. Oh and we have only VARY RECENTLY been able to go into china and sell vehicles. Isuzu is the only one thats been there for a while. and thats cause they were there before they were a gm product.

cant blame legacy cost on everything most of that cost is gone now. We arent talking business here were talking about the quality of a vehicle and gm bashing.... if we taxed the asian vehicles like they tax ours i bet everyone here would be defending their big three vehicle till they die. Simply because they wouldnt have a chance to own another.

Not even close

B. Your full of shit like most on these boards
Since "full of shit" isn't a noun it isn't something I can possess. Consequently the contraction you should have used is "You're." That's me being "shitty" rather than "full of shit," by the way, just to make certain you get the distinction. As for the rest? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gifAsk anyone on this board who is familiar with my postings here and see if you'll find many who think I'm full of shit. I, quite possibly, might be one of the most straightforward and frank members here! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

C. you happen to own the only toyota product that isnt plagued by all the problems 99% of toyota products have.
Oddly you're the ONLY person I have ever heard about relating these chronic problems. I have known far too many people, family and otherwise, that have owned Toyotas and drove them for a long, long time without experiencing any such thing. My sister's '02 Corolla currently shows 130K+ due to frequent trips between New Orleans and Chapel Hill, NC several times a year and again - oddly evidences none of the problems you reckon it ought to exhibit.

Your defense againt my inarguable fact about the Corolla being the best selling automobile on the planet according to Guiness being about where US-made carsare or are not readily available is both silly and inconsequential. Are you so naive to think that Americans and Asians are the only people capable of mass-producing an automobile?!?

Christ, man! Think for a moment about truly how many Renaults, Citroens (sp?), Volkswagens, and others of that ilk which are running around the various countries which comprise Europe as a whole. Now add to that the worldwide sales in every single civilized country that they are available.

The Corolla outsold them all.

Even if your argument did have some validity let's remove every single country that doesn't allow for "fair competition" from the equation. Only take into account countries where Toyotas, Chevys, Fords, VWs, whatever marque you prefer are all offered side-by-side.

I bet the Corolla's World Record would still hold true.

lol.

You just keep making your self look more and more foolish, and every time i think 'how is this possible?'.
