Ford-Probably best I have owned as far as SUV and Trucks-Explore Sporttrac-excellent best all do everything I have owned, Currently F250 Crew Cab Diesel-Have had three never seen service for any reason, Expedition-Great so far at 43,000 miles.

Jeep-2 different Wranglers-Junk more Junk and More Junk

GMC-Sonoma Pick-up never had any issues through 120k still was perfect

Toyota-Toyota SR5 Pickup-excellent truck but not enough oomhp

Chevy-Both I had where complete crap

Nissan-1996 Sentra ran like a top, Altima-Service twice under warranty electrical prob. in 135k

Pontiac-Crap and more Crap nothing but problems

Most of any of these cars will last for a long time as long as you take of them and do proper maintenance-Oil Change, Filter, Brakes, *****.

Right now for cars I will not by American until they get there act together.

Trucks and SUVs no one does it better that the US boys.
If I did a list like this, I would be here for awhile, lol! Have to agree for most part, but I actually have had luck with they chevy brand.

Anyone know a toyota owner who's motor isnt gummed up to all hell...

How about the 3 Toyota owners in my house with 4 cars between them with mileage ranging from 118k to 228k miles? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

And before my dad bought his current Camry with 228k miles on it, he had an 86 Corolla that he traded in with about 425k miles...no major motor work on either cars, just the usual maintenance and replacement of wear items.

Most cars, unless they have inherent design flaws that you can't avoid, can be reliable as long as you take care of them.

WTF are you smoking? How many GM vehicles ever see 100K, I know mine didn't before I had to replace the engine. Camry's are excellent and reliable cars. They have a high re-sale value for a reason other than people are stupid.
my S-10 (96k), my dad's old K5 Blazer (135k), my brothers S-10 (pushing 200k now), grandmothers old Impala (225k{that woman road triped out the ***})

need I continue?

Yes, me.

... or who's ifnition doesnt stick all the time?
If the word you were attempting to use here was ignition then again, yes. Me.

or that have breaks that last more then around 10-15k max?
The current front pads and rear shoes on Gossamer were replaced (according to my service log) at 145,xxx miles.

Current odometer reading is 183,xxx.

or how about a power steering system without any problems.
Once again - me.

No leaks, no snags, no "empty" spots as you turn the steering wheel lock to lock.

I cannot say for sure whether or not anything on the power steering was repaired or replaced before I bought the car but I do know that in the last 4 years I've done nothing more to it than occasionally check the fluid in the reservoir.

0 issues there.

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif The above applies to a 1995 Geo Prizm which is the exact same thing mechanically as a Toyota Corolla. Built in the same factory as the same-year Corollas in Fremont, CA as a matter of fact.

The Toyota Corolla is Guiness Book-certified as THE best selling automobile on the planet, period.

This isn't a fact that comes into being as a result of building crap, by the way...

But they haven't built anything (to my knowledge) that will command $1-200k for a car the ran $2-3000 new.

I don't forsee any cars rolling off the line to be classics any time soon.

I haven't met anyone stowing away a run of the mill accord thinking it will be something in 30 years.

They do build cars well, I will give them that; however, they don't build anything particularly exciting or meaningful. To say you own a Mustang kind of means something (even if you are a punk, but I was referring to older people owning older ones) but if you say "I own a Camry, or I own a Maxima," all you will get is a 'meh'. The cars don't have any implied value, only instrinic value.

Not GM, but my dad has had all sorts of ford trucks for his work, and they always work great. I've had a chevy for 1 year and have had no problems whatsoever.

Dodge on the other hand...blows.

First Minivan=Lemon

Second Minivan= 90K miles, 4 transmissions later, it pulls to the right when the steering wheel is straight, they said that it was all our fault and would not take the car back. Lemon #2.

Dodge=horrible.

end/rant.

My Cutlass would see 150K if I wanted it to. Undercoated from the factory and for a car thats sat for a long period of time, It's in good shape and hasn't costed me much. Other than the acid etched paint (was parked next to a pine tree) and a few bad items such as a motor mount, valve cover gaskets, and a muffler, I haven't had a problem. I've put almost 10K on a 22 year old car that has been sitting for 3 years. I'd have to say I'm impressed.

As for your quote in bold, you probably don't know the proper way to care for and maintain your engine. Just because a camry can be driven longer before you have to do something to it doesn't mean its better....It just shows people are too lazy to take a few and maintain their cars. Another thing people don't understand is how crappy the quality is on these Jap cars. Every company has very good cars, and very cheap cars, including GM (Saturn) Ford, and Chysler. The Camry was built as a cheap car for those who didn't want to pay alot for gas. For those of you who don't want to accept that fact, pull of your door panel and find a GM of the same year and do the same. Better yet, take apart your engine and look a the extremely high quality connecting rods and pistons they put in the engines. Keep in mind, Jap steel isn't as strong as american and is more prone to breaking. Run the balls off of your Camry and it'd be dead in 100K. Quality is the issue, not how many miles you can get out of you POS 4 banger.

I had a 3.4L Firebird... other than the cooling system being the biggest hunk of crap on the face of the earth thanks to that Orange Mud-Coolant... car was very reliable. Sold it to my cousin and it now has 165k miles on it and we have only really had to do maintainance on the cooling system... water pumps, thermostats, radiator hoses, head gasket (due to overheating), etc.

Of course I still buy other brands. I have a Honda and will probably get another one. I would also consider a GM car... unfortunatly I don't really like any of their older cars that get good mileage and I'm looking at used. I would buy a Pontiac G6 if I needed a new car in that price range, I like those //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

We have a 2000 Impala 3.4L with 183,000 KM. We bought it at an auction sale with (168,000 KM), 2 months later we realize that it is using oil and antifreeze, so we take it in and we have to replace some intake manifold gasket, $1000 dollars later, no more oil usage and no more coolant usage. Then the engine lights starts coming on, so i took it and got the codes pulled and one thing was a rdm misfire so I changed the spark plugs and wires. Then there is some other junk we still need to replace exhaust gas recirculation valve and some torque converter controll circuit something.
