Call me a jerk but I don't feel sorry for a black guy who's sitting in a jail cell because "the only successful black people he knew were drugs dealers." Everyone knows it's wrong it's common sense. If he/she lets themselves become a product of their environment it's no ones fault but their own.
When you tell me about running a fortune 500 company I think "I gotta do a lot of work but it will pay off, ill go ahead and do it." If someone can't make it over that mental obstacle (no matter what race they are) they don't deserve the job.

You don't see white basketball players complaining about the NBA being mostly black. The better man gets the spot, just how it should be.
I think you find it difficult to set aside your own perception of reality to see the world through someone else's.

Yeah yeah I know exactly what you're answer would be. "Black use those methods simply because there's no other way out for them."
What if I were to tell you that I (white), come from the same exact areas as a handful of my black associates and am given almost identical opportunities when it comes to education and employment. What you're used to seeing on your TV screen about a poor black guy coming up from nothing through illegal activities is cheap fiction. I can say with certainty that 95-99% of drug dealers are fueled by greed, the hunger for more, they don't just jump in the lifestyle to make ends meet it doesn't work that way.
Exactly. How many 40 year old drug dealers do you see? None. Cuz they all end up dead.

and i provided them because, although they are unequal, they aren't as lop sided as one might think..
Its hard to blame the unequal status blacks have in society solely on discrepancies in education... especially when you compare low skilled (HS only) workers.

It would seem like whites with little education, still do much better than blacks with little education.
sad...but true.

but spitting out statistics all day long won't do anything to solve the problem. honestly, i don't see much that can be done. putting an african american in office sure as hell won't do it. this country is so f-ed up w/ other stuff and no one will have time to work this issue out. not even when the african american and hispanic populations out-number the white population will this get worked out...unless the majority of blacks and hispanics start to vote and give a shit what happens in this country.

speaking of statistics, does anyone know what the percentage of minorities voted compared to that of whites in the last presidential election? i don't know, and i'm too lazy to look right now.

I find my struggles and hardships common and similar to those of all in my community. I'm white and I'm surrounded in a school filled with black people on scholarships and/or accepted because they are black. Personally I think I've seen my fair share of what race means in this world.

Anyone who is 40 and a drug dealer doesn't let anyone around him no he's one. That's why you don't see them.

But you are somewhat right, it does happen.

How did that make you feel? Do you think blacks feel the same way? I am sure you have been excluded by race. Do you feel it persistantly?

It doesn't matter. Life has obstacles, America isn't easy street. I'm not gonna sit around and complain about it, I find ways to reach my goals in other ways if something restricts me. I could really care less if I'm excluded by race, maybe I'm unique but I know there's more then one way to do things. America gives you an opportunity to be a success, I don't believe in handing out money and opportunities to people who are discriminated against over people who would give a limb for it.

#1.Unless you go to an HBCU i'm pretty sure you're not SURROUNDED by black people on scholarships.

#2. Colleges DO NOT accept students because they're black. Dont dare bring up affirmative action cause thats a bullshit card.

#3. Do you know why there are more scholarships provided to black people? BECAUSE WE CANT AFFORD IT. Its an attempt to help the less fortunate who cannot afford to pay for school. Do you know how many black college kids are the first generation to go college in there family?

How is the quoting of statistics complaining?

So wait, there aren't any white kids that are broke? At my school I usually end up paying around 16k a year with tuition and room & bored (not including any additional expense) and almost every kid I know (white or black) is here on at least some form of financial aid if not completely relying on it.

The majority of America can't afford college. Giving a scholarship to some one based on race because that race tends to be poor is under-generalizing the facts. The problem reaches much farther then the minority black community.
