84.8% of whites age 25 and over are high school graduates and 27.2% have a bachelors degree.
78.7% of blacks age 25 and over are high school graduates and 17% have a bachelors degree.
I would have guessed lower % of graduates. Both those numbers are pretty high. In TN, schools "pass" if they get 70% to graduate. Most hope for 60% in four years.

U'm no....it seemed as if he was comparing the population of blacks in the us.....to the population that attend college.....but then again i may be wrong
You are correct.. black students (when compared with their numbers of the general population) are only slightly underrepresented on college campuses.

Consciously or, more often, unconsciously, many white Americans today share a common perspectives and identity, particularly with respect to racial issues such as affirmative action, busing, minority scholarships, or interpretations of race-related events in the news such as the OJ Simpson trials. An important part of this process is so-called race blindness, in which the denial of racial differences is used to deny the reality of racial inequality. Through such denial, whites are able to create a rationalization that the system is fair and that reform is not needed. Many whites believe this rationalization because they do not personally have the experience of being excluded and discriminated against, so they assume that the experiences of Blacks, Latinos, and others are the same as their own. However, by affirming the fairness of the system an this denying a need for reform, whites continue to receive the racial privileges that result from systematic racial inequality.

Who are you or anybody else to judge what is right in this world. There is a lot of wrong in this world and that is easy to point out, but your title takes it too far. God is the only one to judge. The world is coming to a change anyways, so sit back, relax, and enjoy the show if you are a believer.

You are right...the more open discussions and understandings of our respective ideals, mores, and circumstances, the better equipped we are to improve race relations in the upcoming generations.

Thank God for helping us do this.

and i provided them because, although they are unequal, they aren't as lop sided as one might think..

Its hard to blame the unequal status blacks have in society solely on discrepancies in education... especially when you compare low skilled (HS only) workers.

It would seem like whites with little education, still do much better than blacks with little education.

Close...but not quite
They are aware of the other possibilities but that doesn't seem "real". Many blacks do not know of other blacks who have become successful doctors, lawyers, dentists, etc because they typically do not come back to the "hood". Because they are not present, the American dream isn't as real.

They do see success stories on the corner as they typically stay in the "hood". If the only successful people you come in contact with were drug dealers, wouldn't you see that as an occupation to aspire? Plus, it is very glamorous...and the girls tend to like it. Girls do not like guys who spend 16 hour days at the office studying legal briefs.

You are white, and I am white. Neither of us see no reason why we couldn't run a fortune 500 company. Ask 100 blacks. Many of them do not share that same feeling of opportunity.
Call me a jerk but I don't feel sorry for a black guy who's sitting in a jail cell because "the only successful black people he knew were drugs dealers." Everyone knows it's wrong it's common sense. If he/she lets themselves become a product of their environment it's no ones fault but their own.

When you tell me about running a fortune 500 company I think "I gotta do a lot of work but it will pay off, ill go ahead and do it." If someone can't make it over that mental obstacle (no matter what race they are) they don't deserve the job.

You don't see white basketball players complaining about the NBA being mostly black. The better man gets the spot, just how it should be.
