A report released today by activists who favor reducing criminal penalties on marijuana use and production claims that pot is the nation's largest cash crop, The Los Angeles Times writes.

Estimated value of the marijuana grown in the U.S. this year: $36 billion.

According to the Times, that tops corn ($23 billion), soybeans ($17.6 billion) and hay ($12.2 billion).
