The Charleston police officer seen on Internet video pushing a skateboarder over a bush at a city park has been suspended for ten days.

Police Chief Greg Mullen says 49-year-old Willie Simmons used an unnecessary level of force.

Mullen says Simmons began serving her suspension Thursday. Mullen says the 19-year-old skateboarder declined to file assault charges.

Mullen says he doesn't thinks Simmons was being malicious. The police chief says Simmons had been a foot patrol officer in the park for several years and felt strongly about the place after seeing damage other skateboarders had done.

I see it like this, one warning, if it doesnt stop then beat the shit out of him. I hate skateboarders destroying my towns/parks too. But to just walk up and push him with no warning is uncalled for.

No, I live in Charleston. Skateboarding is definately outlawed at the Battery, because so much time and money went into making it the tourist attraction it is. She was doing her job, and the skaters out here don't listen anyway. He's lucky she just pushed him rather than pistol whip him into the bushes HA.

That is all negated by the fact, that they did not listen to an officers warning! He jumped on that pillar right in front of her, and to me that is blatant disrespect. Also the fact of the matter is that she was a female, and I can guarantee that if it was a male it wouldn't of happened.

Nothing wrong with skateboarders, except they insist on skating illegally. There are skateparks in **** near every decent sized city; go there. Build your own ramp with a bunch of friends. He didn't deserve to get assualted for that, but hopefully he learned his lesson.

Your an idiot. WTF does her race have to do with anything. I'm white and I don't see how her being black means anything. She was doing her job, maybe a bit aggressively, but her job nonetheless. Some slacker douchebag is in the process of ruining something that cost hundreds of thousands, if not millions of taxpayer dollars that I very much doubt he contributed to and he got pushed. So what! Don't be such a *****. If I saw someone ruining something that my tax money payed for I'd do a hell of alot more than push him in the bushes.

I skated for quite a few years when I was younger and never felt the need to damage public property while doing it. Me and my brother built all kinds of ramps and rails to use specifically for that purpose.

Nope, just per capita black people like to do a lot more killin'. Any minority that dominates any type of murder statistic over the whole population is just overachieving since whites make up a very large part of the population.

Last I checked, blacks make up about 15% of out total American population....
