Libertarian...is what liberal stems from. Think about the word liberal for just a second. I "liberal" amount of salad dressing for a recipe. Does it mean retrictive? No, it means more loose and flowing, not a specific amount. Your ignorant republican conservative friends chose the word liberal, not democrats.
Again, not all democrats are hippies, socialists, or communists. I bet a dollar to ten of yours that I am more about open markets than many you would meet. Ever hear of Milton Friedman, I think highly of many of his policies concerning the regulation of markets.

Want to join a closed mined, self-imposing party? Think Republican with their efforts or over-turing Roe vs. Wade, their imposing of school uniforms, and their various other measures to reduce my freedoms. The Republican postions of no-tax and spend economics is idiocy. If you want to spends vast sums of money on the war, atleast fund it. Supply side economics does not work. Is there really a genuine debate about whether global warming is real? That amazes me. It's getting so hot in here, I'm goin to take off all my clothes.

Actually there is something capatalistic to the debate on global warming. Anytime you can reduce waste, you can become more effecient. Whether or not global warming caused by man is real (opposed to global warming which occurs naturally) is not really an issue. What it does do is put pressure on industry to become more effecient to say they are "green". A byproduct of that is less waste, more effeciency, and high profits. All the government needs to do is put the proper incentives in place to achieve it.
