Isn't that pretty much what happened in Iraq. The thought was there, but it just made things worse.

Worse? Tell that to the people Hussien didn't have a chance to kill. Unfortunately it seems they tend to behave in a barbaric way. Years of pent up anger released on one side,the other trying to destabilize what they're trying to build. Documents showing that a nuclear program ready to start as soon as the inspectors left. If Hussien was still in power how many would he have killed and if the inspectors had left where would his nuclear program be?
