i understand what you mean, i completly understand watching over your kids. But i do think this is pushing it a lil bit far. Randomly checking to see if teh kids have been drinkin, the article said that the test can be wrong if they used that day or somthing like that. So your kid used mouthwash and he gets tested, boom, now they call teh parents umm your child was drinking this weekend. Kid denys it, parents put the kid. Talk about an easy way to **** up family relations.

I dont mind the drug test at school since there were for kids participating in extracurricular activites, there takeing a risk there by smoking. But now there taken a risk at school and with family because they drank a little bit that weekend. Its not there responsibilty, its the parents. If the parents want the school to take control of the students lives then they dont deserve to be parents.

Sorry for the misspelling, grammer, and horrible punctution.

Jus hope i got my point across
I understand your point and Im slightly in agreement for those that oppose it, but as a father Im guessing I look at it from another point of view, despite the age of my children.

Do I think theres flaws? Absolutely. But all the same I think it could be beneficial without causing anyone harm, but more or less inconvenience.

I never said it was ok for kids to attend school intoxicated. But even if they do, they are now on the school grounds during school time. The kids that do this are fucking dumbasses anyways and need to be takin out by natural selection. But this alcohol testing is about kids drinking outside of school.

They get drunk, then go to school...Unfortunately theres no way to single out each individual for it, thus testing everyone.

cmon now, there's nothing wrong with going out to a kegger in high school. they should be testing for coke, crank, x and heroin.

So instead of being involved in your child's life and knowing what your kids are doing, you are more than happy to hand this responsibilty over to the government?
I am as much involved in my childrens life as I possibly can, sometimes maybe too much. But this isnt a perfect world and there is Alot of neglect from parents nowadays.

It could cause someone harm. For instance, I am trying to apply for college and it becomes common knowledge that I failed the alcohol test. A false positive could potentially ruin a good student's chances of attending a premier school. If you apply to elite/ivy schools, those types of things have a way of coming up, no matter how "classified or secured" the government may say they are.

I love texas..that shit will never make it down here.

especially where i live. thats all we highschoolers have to do on weekends.

oh well..i graduate in may so..who cares either way. sucks for future kids though

I agree, dont they already test for that now or no?

Just going out for a kegger and such is one thing. I think this is all implemented to help the ones that take it a bit further.

So, it is up for the government to take up a parent's slack once again:

Can't pay your bills, govt will help

Can't feed you kids, govt will help

Can't afford a home, govt will help

Can't take care of your kids, govt will help

Want to go to a good state school, govt says no funding

Want to become an independant options trader, flat taxed at 15% everytime you sell.

I know I can't change everything, but I try my ****est to support candidates that reward people taking personal responsibility for their lives.

Didnt the article state it would have to equal consumptiion of one to two drinks? Thats alot of mouthwash to consume...

Maybe I should read the entire article before I go on, as I see Im not making any friends here quickly..

schools test for drugs? Not that I know of. At least not here.

I dont agree with it just being for straight alchys....its says if you drink like two beers it will show up. 2 beers probably won't get an 8 year old drunk, so I don't see why someone should care if a high schooler has a couple beers.

Also imo, if the system has flaws... it shouldnt be used. Think how your relationship between you and your kid would be if you ***** at them or ground them for showing up positive.....especially if they really didnt drink anything //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif.

New Jersey is a blue state, the rest of us are red states, go figure.

I assume there are more substances that could give a false-positive. If the person appeared under the influence, no problem. Kid get hurts at school, no problem. Mass random testing, I have a problem.

So then it makes it right for a kid to attend school intoxicated, or even with a buz on? Theres no possible way that it could lead to any kind of trouble or harm...Kids nowadays dont bring weapons to school or anything like that either right?
Except violation of your rights and privacy...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

I am for some of those, but Only in extreme situations. People that...

Drive a BMW, but the government picks up the tab... NO

People that continue to have children when their already on welfare... NO

People that pruchase homes beyond their means, then fall back on the govt...NO

Veterans that physically cannot work..yes

Disability (legitimate claim) ..yes

layoffs (beyond control)..yes

But all within reason..disability should last until able again...no milking it, same with layoffs/unemployement,etc...
