Dammn ive backed up cops alot of times when it comes to these taser guns. This time though the cop seemed to have crossed the line. It was an old woman he could have just held her back. Hell maybe just screamed at her and the old lady could have had a heart attack. I don't see a need to tase old citizens like that unless she had a weapon.

It's ironic. I don't know the whole/real story (obviously) but I would guess she was probably there to make a moral point to the granddaughter whom she hit and felt bad about -- that's it's not right to hit others unfairly, and if you do, you need to accept responsibility for your actions, which, in her case, was to get arrested as a symbolic gesture to prove the moral point to her granddaughter. Instead, what she proved is that you can't just blindly have trust and faith in the police. *Great example for the granddaughter, cop schmuck!*

If that's not abuse of authority/power, I don't know what is.
Aren't they only supposed to use weaponry to subdue a hostage when there is a clear action risking their safety or someone else's, that cannot be stopped any other, non-violent, way? I can't see an old lady posing much of a physical threat to anyone, unless, maybe, if she was waving a gun around. "Resisting arrest" is paperwork, not an excuse to whip out and use a weapon on the person.

Man, if that was my mother, I'd have that pig's head on a stick.
Cops are allowed to use tasers any time a suspect is not coroperating and giving them a hard time. Makes their jobs much easier. If you were a cop and some guy was giving you a hard time wouldn't you love having a taser that can knock out your suspect and you don't have to deal with his bullshit? I know I would.

Yes, but I'm not a cop, and there are a lot of things I don't like about my job, that violent tools could improve for me. But, I can't go off using them just because it would make my job easier, or shut some whacko up because he's annoying me or freaking me out. That lady was actually THERE to be arrested. Doesn't seem like resisting arrest to me. And even if she was, don't you think the cop could have easily gotten her hands behind her back to cuff her without using weapons on her first?

I believe strongly that the use of non-lethal weapons is to replace lethal weapons as a means to immobilize a violent suspect who is showing a clear danger to himself, the officer, or another citizen.

What does the cop rule-book say?-- that they can use non-lethal weapons any time it makes their job easier? If that's the case, it may be time to send off a little note to a Senator.

the sad part is, the description of events, and the servaliance was totally incoherant.

the woman was sitting down, and he whipped out his tazer, and shot her from like a foot away - and she didnt even move.

i hope that dude goes to jail. this is why poliece are treated like crap.

Cops are incredibly corrupt/cowardly/shitty/etc.

My friend got arrested recently and they confiscated everything in his apartment.... When police confiscate things they are supposed to take a log of it, write it down and then put it in an archive/storage until the given person is released and can pick up all the items. The police chose not to log about half of the expensive electronics in his apartment/vehicle and just stole them, he got only his laptop back out of his iPod, olympus mp3/video player thing, $600 shure headphones and way, way more... they're pieces of sh1t.

This same kid was in a situation with some people at his drug-ring leader pal/friends' loft in downtown Denver... it was surrounded by the cops, they had barricaded off the parking structure and the front door... leader guy made some calls, the cops just left. Right there got up and left.

I hate cops... i don't hate the profession, it's very necessary, but i hate 99% of all i've met or heard about.
