It sucks when you sell your books back and get like 1/3 of what you paid for them. It also sucks when you lose like the stupid Cd that came with it and they wont even buy it back. Its a scam.

join the many of us that feel the same way. only thing i can suggest is get the book #/UI number, and go to half.com or other student book sites. My college offers a student forum where we buy sell trade books, maybe you could look into that.

Here @ Tech I knew people that sold back their $100 Chem and physics textbooks and were given $10. 1/3rd of the original price is a **** good deal.

No, paying $300 deposit on your apartment with the major possibility of not getting it back is a scam.

Think about it from the landlord's perspective. College students are about the most risky investment in tenants they could possibly make, next to making the place a crackhouse...we destroy things, plain and simple. $300 actually seems a little low; a full month's rent held as a security deposit makes excellent sense.

I've gotten shafted every semester. The most I ever got back was $100, and that was when i had $700 worth of books.

F*cking assholes.

I had to buy a brand new $125 IDS book and they didn't even take the bastard back.

I took and sold all of my books on ebay at the begining of the spring semester last year and I got about 3/4 of what I paid for them I would give that a try...

x2, here you get hardly anything back for books.

Now personally, I never sell books back. I figure if I plan on actually doing something in my field of study, it may be helpful down the line to have the references. Plus, if I'm going to get 50 bucks back on a $500 investment, it just doesn't seem worth it....it wouldn't even buy one of the new books I need.

keep in mind once you get to higher classes you will want to keep your books, so resale isn't a big deal.

I don't buy books...or atleast I try very hard not to. I bought 1 book + supplementary. Taking 18 hours. Few of my teachers use the book for teaching.
