We need to not caricature our potential best allies in the years to come as you do.Right now i'd say our own government and our lack of solidarity as viewed from the outside in is our greatest threat.-
......In the next 10 years I am definitely with Slammed on this - CHINA will be a huge problem for the United States in the years to come; we will have to compete with them on an increasingly frequent basis for the world's resources(tangible&intangible) and with their sheer capacity for growth not to mention their raw hunger for advancement we will have ourselves one hell of a rival. Did I mention they are fiercly nationalistic...? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif

It is my sincere hope that come time we will somehow have seriously reigned in our governments SERIOUS mismanagement of fiscal policy. As we speak we are leveraging the house with the help of China et al via Bonds, and the level of government spending is just sickening!
- We need to get our house in order or we will simply not be prepared. The End.
Yeah, I was just making a joke when I was talking about the election...although it could play a very minor role.I can give you some commentary on this. No, they arent controllable. Nobody can say for certain why they are coming down right now. Gas prices coming down is NOT even necessarily a good thing for our economic outlook. Anybody who has even taken an elementary economics course knows the concept of demand. When demand goes down, prices go down. The decrease in oil right now could very well signal that the demand for oil has gone down which, if true, means our economy could be slowing down: signalling a possible recession. If you are somehow trying to relate gas coming down at this with some rightwing conspiracy to win votes, you are wrong.
The Iran situation could also be a reason for the falling prices. Remember, these prices are all dictated by markets. If people are starting to believe the Iran situation is going well, meaning the threat of them cutting off their oil is down, then that could be another reason we are seeing falling prices.
Either way, OPEC can cut production down anytime and we will see them rise again, especially if prices get much more under $60.
You're right, I don't like Bush & I'm even a registered republican. You're right, Bush does work with the Legislature which just happens to be a conservative majority. Bush isn't really the problem, he is just the face that is attached to it. I do have a responsibility as an American to try to change things hence the reason I voice my opinion to the opposition, participate in political activities, spend my time at the university focusing on diplomacy and related topics, meet with many people involved in washington, and, um, vote. I think you're contradicting yourself there hun...brock = bush basher-- always has been. always will be, regardless of what he does. He|| , anyone can b!tch about 'the problem'...
the only thing I DONT support is complaints without actions to resolve... if you know whats wrong please enlighten us what we can do to fix it... You, sir, are an American and you do have the right and responsibility to make changes to our American way of life. Oh, and President BUSH makes everything happen and doenst have to work with your Senators or Congressmen. He is the all powerful KING of AMERICA! It's ALL his fault,,,,, right? After all...There are no other branches of government responsible for any of the decisions that make America run.
---now, let the bashing begin on Renee...GAWD knows it's coming!

Wow you are quite the fool. History will continue to repeat itself with bent facts like the ones you're throwing out. This is the problem with history and why I have always hated it. There is now typically an agenda behind history making it flawed. For example Bush was wrong about Iraq right? I know that's what the history books are going to say, yet what about Clinton, was he wrong about Iraq and Saddam as well? History books will by chance leave this out; how strange. Weapons were moved out of Iraq through Syria as military surveillance saw activity on the Syrian boarder and a top Iraq military official stated that they had weapons but was unsure where they are now. I did write a big long thing but I realized there is no reasoning with you because you will never get it. I will say even Bush doesn't fully understand the threat as he left our boarders open for so long after 9-11. There is still much improvement needed on the boarders.what about the commie's....oh wait that was the last OLD STALE WEAK pretext used to deny your rights
the biggest threat is people dont know 2 things.......history repeats itself...over n over
and absloute power currupts absloutely /thread / your lives
Or it could just mean people are being wiser with their usage of energy. Oil prices falling is a good sign for the economy. It means there will be less strain on people's check books.I can give you some commentary on this. No, they arent controllable. Nobody can say for certain why they are coming down right now. I do agree with you here and this is why I want to get a bumper sticker that says I hate OPEC. The funny things is OPEC is saying they want to cut production to stabilize oil prices. But we all know that they just want to keep the oil prices stable at $3 a gallon. The Iran situation could also be a reason for the falling prices. Remember, these prices are all dictated by markets. If people are starting to believe the Iran situation is going well, meaning the threat of them cutting off their oil is down, then that could be another reason we are seeing falling prices.

hmm, so we had intelligence supporting the notion that there were no WMD and we still used it as a premise for invasion? hmmm...History books will by chance leave this out; how strange. Weapons were moved out of Iraq through Syria as military surveillance saw activity on the Syrian boarder and a top Iraq military official stated that they had weapons but was unsure where they are now.
You cant really deny that the administration has consistently attacked anyones patriotism who has the balls to disagree with their course of action. Rove has waged a brilliantly run propaganda war since sept 12th, instantly coloring anyone who voices dissent as unpatriotic, pro terrorism and weak on defense. Both the house and senate democrats, fearing this tactic, were cowed into submission; consequently they provided absolutely none of the checks and balances to the administrations afforded by law. I would also like to point out that they are the minority and have little power to call for hearings and investigations. In summary im very disillusioned with both political parties, they have both let us down.brock = bush basher-- always has been. always will be, regardless of what he does. the average american's acceptance and opposition of the politician's straw man
and red herrings...
Like I said, falling oil prices could mean a slowdown/coming recession in our economy. Our economy runs on oil, if firms have decided to start cutting down on shipments/airfare etc.. oil would come down in price, which it has. Again, nobody can possibly know for sure why oil is coming down right now. If you study trends in the economy, you would see sudden drops in oil prices preceeding our 3 or 4 most recent recessions. Alot of economists would support this theory right now. If you want to see some more pretty ominous evidence to support a coming recession, study this yield curve of 10 year and 3 month Treasury Bonds.Or it could just mean people are being wiser with their usage of energy. Oil prices falling is a good sign for the economy. It means there will be less strain on people's check books.
