I think people have the right to smoke in their homes, but if it interferes with others comfort and health, then the landlords have to do what they have to do. If I paid good money to live in a nice apartment and the smoker downstairs or down the hall stunk it up with cigarettes, I'd be pissed off too.
This law would be the government telling landlords how to manage their properties.

The government should stay the fuk out, and let the market dictate rental policy.

If a landlord is losing money because of a tenant's smoking, he has every right to ban smoking in his property, but the government has no right to tell the landlord he cant allow smoking in the buildings he owns.

I don't think he was. But I'm not really here to argue or care to. I'm biased in this discussion and I cannot add an objective point of view so I will not add anymore.

BTW, I sent you a PM about your BM's //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

I agree with you on this. Maybe my hatred for smoking carried over into my reading and comprehension ability;)

Show me studies proving second hand perfume smelling causes or leads to cancer and I'll accept that argument.
If a landlord chooses to ban smoking within his rental units to limit his own liability from second hand smoke lawsuits, great! Nonetheless, that should be the landlords decision and the state should stay the fuk out

Yep.

The notion that a government should have the authority to tell everyone how to live runs counter to the freedoms our nation was founded on.

This is an old quote, but it represents the slippery slope we might be heading down-

German anti-Nazi activist, Pastor Martin Niemöller at Columbia Theological Seminary in Decautur GA in 1959

In Germany they first came for the Communists,

and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist.

Then they came for the Jews,

and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew.

Then they came for the trade unionists,

and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Catholics,

and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant.

Then they came for me —

and by that time no one was left to speak up.

It starts with intolerance towards others.

That obviously went right over your head.
