Why Is my Preout Voltage So Low?

Thats the question anyone know why my preout voltage is so low? Ive tested it with three different clarion decks.. The two main ones, a 765mp and a 785usb both are supposed to have 4v and 6v preouts respectively but I get like 0.4v if that.

Ive tried everything.. bought an external battery charger and added a second fully charged battery in parallel to my system just to see if the battery or alternator was an issue... same shit problem. My sub amp is getting 14.8 volts when I test the positive and ground.

Ive tried tried three different amps too.. Tried a 4/3 sony xplode 600w mosfet amp, a Hart professional 800w mosfet amp and a crappy stereo MTX 200w amp.

I get three times the bass with the shit amp because I think it works well with very low preout voltage. The others I can barely hear at all even though they are much more powerful.

Im stumped.

Any Ideas?

Oh I forgot.. The bigger amps I only hear anything when I bring response voltage down to like 03.-0.5v when it should work at 6v with the current HU I'm running.

So not even being able to hear my subs at all is considered worrying?

Maybe they aren't working properly. Take an old extension cord and cut it. Bare the two ends of the wire and hook it to positive and negative. Using the plug, plug it into a wall socket in your house. The sub cone should move towards you and that means nothing is wrong with the speaker. Then we can go from there. If possible, take a video of it so we can verify it is working properly.

My 4v alpine never got above .3 volts at my normal volume. It only put out 4 volts when I maxed out the volume.

You just have to set the amp gain accordingly and make sure the headunit sub level is up high enough.

how do you determine its up high enough?

ty for a real answer, maybe other people were curious about his problem too

Read the gain setting tutorial in the amp section. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I, however, do it by ear since I'm always playing around with the settings to get the highest SPL I can for competition purposes.

I have my HU sub output maxed

My gain high

The input sensitivity voltage on the amp very low

and I get barely any response... will adding that batcap actually work?

Im only running one 600w amp basically right now.
