Speakers will push watts if you move the cone. Not very many watts, but passing a coil through a magnet will generate electricity
To follow suit with jman I'll add that a drivers output can be described in acoustical wattage..ok smart azz lol. you know what I mean
My boss has no concept of proper power either. He bought a pair of RF P1 12's with a Pnch 360 amp. He showed it to me and I asked why he bought the bottom of the line stuff. He told me the Best Buy guy told him the subs would do 1K watts and the amp is 900watts of power //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif. Umm, no. I actually had to rewire it for him, change the x-over to lo-pass (he had it on hi-pass-duh!) and explained to him that the Best Buy guy took him. Saw him coming a mile away. I also explained the difference between RMS and Peak power for both the amp and the subs. Its amazing that such a simple concept is so hard for people to grasp.I really don't know what to say to people when they ask me how many watts my amplifier is... I mean, like you said most people who run "2000W amps" are really using off brand, peak-rated amps that really run about 200-300 RMS on a cold day in hell, or something similar, and if you tell them your RMS wattage they think yours is inferior, etc. etc. it's just a pain in the ***.
Like speaking a different language, lol.
I think that measurement should be velocity based //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gifOh, and how many acoustical watts does my aunt's ass output after she eats some of her famous bean caserole?
You tell me how many DB's she's hitting at a given distance and I'll do the calculation for you.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gifOh, and how many acoustical watts does my aunt's ass output after she eats some of her famous bean caserole?
