there is one. but that worries me in general. I've heard to much bad stuff about them.

alkaline trio favorite band! can't wait to listen to them with the new system.

In the same box, more power will be louder, provided the sub can handle the added power. When giving a sub less power, you can compensate by using a larger box to make the system more efficient instead of relying on more power to amplify a less efficient setup.

I'm having someone build my box so I'm sure I'll have that covered. I think we talked about it being something like 2.5 cubes. maybe bigger now, idk.

This. People hate on AP but there hasn't been any tests showing an o-scope of the amp's output. There are, however, tests showing it does well over rated (especially the ap3k, which i believed was clamped at 2500w @ 3 ohms off ~12.6v or something like that).

I think people are afraid to buy AP because of the price tag but to be honest I've had this amp for a good 6 months now and as long as you know how to set it up properly and adjust your gains you will be just fine. I guarantee the people that are afraid of AP amps have never personally used one. I'm sure boomsday wouldn't have a problem agreeing with what I just said.

You can always adjust your gain and it gives you headroom to run at 1 ohm in the case that you add a second sub. But if you don't feel comfortable running it that's fine I guess. I just wouldn't justify the amp as being bad because some guy received a faulty one. It all depends on where you buy it from

U will be fine u honestly won't hear any difference with 200 watts...plus ur amp will do more around 500......

U won't harm the sub unless u clip like hell which I doubt u will...just keep ur tuning around 36 and u will be fine

Are we really going to have this conversation about AP again. They are junk, the boards are junk, the internal components are junk, they do rated. Thats the only good thing about them.

Get the Kicker ZR. Its a much better amp than any AP amp in that power range.

ZR is still a better amp. The ZR's are old school Kicker SQ and way way under rated. I remember seeing where Shinju had a ZR200 or something that did around 600wrms.

Shinju had a 360 and 600. I have a 1000. Yes, they are better then anything kicker makes now. I love it! My rotation of sub amps stopped once I hooked it up! And look at my list.....

In for the AP fan club making this a 10 page thread.....cant wait for the humor.

ZR is still a better amp. The ZR's are old school Kicker SQ and way way under rated. I remember seeing where Shinju had a ZR200 or something that did around 600wrms.

But he said a ZX, the 08 models IIRC, not the ZR's. The KX is the 06 model.

so my friend works at a carx and one of the Machanics is selling a zx400.1.

If I pair it with let's say the SDC. I know I'll need to watch for clipping but does that mean I won't be able to turn it up very loud? Once I set the gains to make sure it doesn't clip, can I turn the volume up on the HU when I want to or will it just clip?

(b/c don't I set the gains at like 3/4ths volume so either way it won't clip if I turn it up to that point)
