My bad; I should have explained.
Resolution is the ability to distinguish between multiple melodic lines, individual instruments, and (recorded) spacial relationtionships comprising a large performance. Instead of big blob of sound, one hears each each aural voice (if you will) as a specific entity. Resolution is also intertwined with the transparency and focus of a system.

Listen to Chesky records much lol. "High resolution, Rebeccah Pigeon performing spanish harlem..." IMO that has a lot to do with the actual recording. I see what your saying now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

What is the criteria for a sq amp?
So to say, what exactly makes an amp sq? Dampening, efficiency, sn ratio, slew rate?

I've wondered about this for awhile.

Your gonna get a whole bunch of opinions. IMO a good SQ amp does nothing but amplify the signal it's fed, and does cleanly without adding or detracting anything from the original signal fed to it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I have, but it's not a part pf my usual musical diet. If I'm honest, I can't stand listening to that weenie shit.

IMO that has a lot to do with the actual recording.
Ironically, the better the performance, the worse the recording.

When I defined the concept of resolution, it was solely applicable to the equipment. I truly loathe discussing this on the 'net, as there's no opportunity to demo concept. This said, I fully understand why some of the folks feel the way they do. Car audio is laden with some of the least resolving gear I've heard to date.

Cool, thanks for the info.

I agree 100 fold.....Us, as car audio goobs, have the worst enviroment to try to recreate a "real" soundstage...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Actually, it's not "my" resolution. The term is used, as I defined, by audio folks all over the world to communicate a common idea. You're certainly welcome to invent and use your own terminology, but you may have problems being understood by those who comprehend the constraints at hand. FWIW, the Audio Glossary that introduced the terminology is over 40 years old.

Edit: I should add that my perspective is a little different. Car audio is not my mainstay, even though I do enjoy it.
