the design i had called for 1.5" thick material, so i left the internal dimensions all the same so it came out to the specs as designed, then i just used .75 MDF. eventually i will double the outer port wall and probably the top side as thats where the sub will be mounted. I would have did it all at once but i ran out of wood. Why did you double wall the port?
thanx for the comments.....i wish i had more knowledge of spl designs and whatnot. Howevere that has never really been my cup of tea but i jumped at the chance to build the box for him. If he would have contracted a local shop to do it....woulda cost him 250-300+ but since i work with his dad and he's a cool kid, it only cost him materials and $20.dont get me wrong its a well built box, but leaves much to be desired. No corners
are rounded, nothing is smoothed out ex. resin , pvc etc.... its not going to be as loud
as it should as it sits.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif
There are some really simple things that really will make the box shine. Round the port edges and smooth out air flow as much as possible, buy some thin wall pvc pipe, splice it in 3rds and use that on box corners. Its simple to do and makes a difference. The cuts and the box itsself looks fantastic, dont get me wrong. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gifthanx for the comments.....i wish i had more knowledge of spl designs and whatnot. i certain wish i could build him the ultimate spl box but i just don't have the knowledge for that.
appreciate the advice man....i see many more of these type of boxes in the future. i learn more every single time i build a box. I do know that i'll be building a specially designed cutting table to use in the future...man handling full sheets by yourself to cut with circular saw sucks ***.There are some really simple things that really will make the box shine. to round the cornersPVC Eh??
why wont it be as loud?to round the corners
Pouring resin into the corners and letting it sit for a while works really good also. I wouldn't of double layered the box though. It won't be as loud.
