which way to aim the sub?

how does everyone have their subs set up? i have my 15" in a sealed box aimed out the back of my trunk, just wondering how everyone else has theirs. maybe i'll try something new.

i always have had mine facing the back, seems to sound the best.. and most of the other people ive heard from agree that facing towards the trunk USUALLY sounds better.. Its all preference and u gotta see what U like..

I experimented with it, faced them every possible way, and found that firing upwards works the best...

Yep in my truck it sounds best with them inverted facing kinda up. With the port facing upward too. See.

I personaly like a large ported box firing into the car (but totaly sealed off, so you dont lose any pressure into your trunk) . But it all depends on what kind of sound you like. If you like sound quality over SPL I'd fire them upwards, The other way i mentioned is good for SPL.

I know I'm late replying to this, but firing your subs towards the BACK of the car makes for louder bass. The longer it takes the soundwaves to getto you ears, the louder it is. This way, it bounces off the back of the car and then into the cab.

In most cars with trunks, this is the case. Though, sometimes you will find other ways work better.

Yea, I see your point. I installed 2 10's in my friend's hatchback and it was louder facing towards the front of the car.

What seems louder to the ear and what is louder on the meter are 2 completely different things...

It was louder both to the ear and the meter. He wanted to be sure so we had it checked.

For a hatchback, I personally think it is ALOT louder if the subs are facing the glass, on the same angle as the glass.

Again, in most cases you are correct Hatch's really help things out when aiming for SPL :cough: CRX :cough:
