Which way should sub face???

When you have a sub in a trunk,would it be better to face forward or should it face towards the rear seat?

To me it seems like it should face forward but maybe towards the rear seat gives more bass inside the vehicle.

Any input??

it won't "hit' with it facing the seats. so face it rear, the waves will reach the cabin easier and be in phase.

the waves are omnidirectional; so long as nothing substantial is redirecting them, the will reach the cabin

But it has been shown that in some trunks aiming the box differently can have a 1-3 db effect upon the dash. Most find it loudest firing 4-6 inches from the back of the car towards the back of the car. I agree that bass is omnidirectionala and cnnot be localized below a general frequency, but aiming your box around in the trunk can have a big imact on how it sounds. the best way for you and your vehicle is move the box- play fav song, move box play fav song, untill you like how it sounds.

This is great advice.Ill just have to experiment.
