Which top-of-the-line Sub to go?!

hey everybody,

i just sold my DD9512 and now im looking for new sub(s).

I had a DD9515 and liked it a lot. then i tried out a 9512 and liked it

also, could have been a little louder playing lowest bass notes but i liked

the speed and its response big time!

now i felt like time for something new (caraudio is my passion) and decided perhaps Audioque would be worth a try as they are quite similar to DD.

But i´m not sure which setup to go. I got 4.5, perhaps 5 cu.ft. (before driver

and port displacement) in my car. It is a opel astra, you dont have it over

there, similar to a volkswagon golf (hatchback).

Plus i got a Zapco 9.0 that will pump around 4kW (according to display even

4.4kW with music) into 4ohms bridged.

I want it all, fast response but i like listening to hiphop like

three6mafia, too. The subs have to move air and sound hard hitting at the

same time.

How are the HD3 compared to the 95 series or 99series regarding the sound? i

only will use them for daily never ever burp them.

Or do you have any other proposals?

a treo ssx will be a wicked setup. i have been around a lot of 9.0's on ssx's before, they are a great matchup. my dealer used to be strictly treo/zapco (treo woofers, zapco amps) but now he moved to dd, and i fell in love with treo, and still amp with the ssx, but the dd subs have been impressing me a lot.

These are AWESOME subwoofers. I have 2 12's off of only 400 watts each and they are rediculous.

Also the Hd's are between the 3500 and 9500 DD series in terms of output. But the 3500's also do get very loud. They have been described as the 3500's on steroids and the little brother of the 9500's.

sry for the delayed response on this one, have been home for the weekend.

hm , well i just installed a TREO SSi 12" sub for a friend of mine, hooked up to 1.000 watts RMS.

this sub sounds OK, but it lacks the response and hard hitting bass i like with DD.

i talked to JD from audioque, he told me HD3 series sounds like 9500 series from DD with the difference that the audioques like the lower notes a little better. as i can tell only by the looks they lack the air ventilation on top of the magnet, so i think they would take a little less power for daily, but my 9512 took all the 4.4kWs the 9.0 threw at it, so 2kw each audioque 10" should be ok.

i got messured my trunkspace and think i will give two 10 inchers a try. i got 3.5 to 4 cubes before driver and port displacement.

as i already had a DD9515 and 9512 i want to go with a different setup this time.

what came into my mind are audioque HD3s, treo ssx, perhaps even MTX 9500 series and Orion H2 but i only like the looks of those, never got around to listen to them. they are not that common in here //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

plus i will look up some specs for the auras und stereo integrities.

if anyone would have an offer of two 9510s dual 4ohms each i would take them hands down i think. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif DD has been my choice to make me grin all day long so far...(but as i experienced the box has to be built solid and 40hz tuning, any deeper setting will make them sound much less loud and muddy, decrease in SQ and even less lower-end output!)

the ssi will play lower than the tsx, and it goes way way low, but the ssi isnt nearly as energetic as the tsx, and the tsx is louder in most cases.

and regarding SSi vs. SSX?

next thing stereo integreties are only available 12" and up and only dual 2ohms. i need 10", dual 4 or 1 ohms.

where can i get information about that aura NS sub?

anybody information about the MTX 9500 series or Orion H2?

From what ive read you are just looking for all out loudness and not as much SQ

Your average SQer doesnt have or need a 4000W amp

oh no, i need SQ too. MT subs dont sound at all. at least the older modells.

e.g. i do not like a JL 13w7 at all! i listend to it in a sealed enclosure powered by a Rockford T15002 and it sounded like shit. way too "muddy". only loud. well as loud as my DD9512 but it lacked the punch.

Maybe with ur local dealer in ur area every time I've called Treo I've gotten fast reponses and good help. Not to mention my closest dealer is a cool guy over all so I've never had any issues with them myself.
