Which system is better???

Me and my friend were having a discussion on whose setup is better in terms of SPL and SQ...

Given they are in the same car with same head unit etc., which system would be better...

1) 2 Rockford Fosgate 12" HE2 400 watt rms each

Rockford Fosgate 801s 2400 watt Amp

2) Elemental Designs 12" B312 sub

Hifonics Brutus 1500bd amp wired for 1000rms

Any help would be appreciated. thanks.

if i see hifonics listed anywhere to be compared to better made amp companies i bash- hifonics is garbage- in my oppion

Actually yes, it does. He's comparing one setup to another that would have twice the cone area and be recieving twice as much power. It makes a BIG difference.

theres a differnce in power...ok. but the fact of having 1 sub opposed to 2 is a minimal differnce. unless your talkin like 1 10" vs. 2 15"s. you should never base a descision on a factor like that. there are so many variables in system designing (for SPL or SQ) and that is quite low on the list

I misread the original post, he'll only be sending those Rockfords 400w each. I saw the 2400w and thought it was the RMS going to the subs //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/redface.gif.62fdbfe1a101588a808c4cff71bcb942.gif. But as far as the number/power issue goes, there will be noticable difference between 1 12" getting 1000w and 2 12"s getting 1000w each. If this wasn't true, people would have no reason to have multiple sub setups except for the sake of spending money.
