Which sub for Kicker KX550.3 amp?

yup,2005 MTX is totally better than previous years of the 6000,7000,8000 etc models

I own a 8500 12" and with only 500 watts is a beast and slams the crap out of my car

and provides great SQ - but SQ is all subjective,its no TDX but it smokes a ton of whats being sold in the market place today

IMO its the best bang for the buck sub I have ever owned,and it takes a beating too

I show it no mercy........

Alright, I am leaning more towards the 7500 now. Will the 420 watts to the sub be enough to push the sub well?

How about a Type R? Would I be underpowering the sub?

Yea, I thought the 400 would be too little. Is my amp just not powerful enough? Has anyone heard both the IDQ/ID V.3 and the 7500 and if so, how did they compare? I am worried about the Image Dynamics not getting loud enough and the 7500 not performing in the SQ department.

I would still go ID, but I have not heard the ID vs the MTX head to head, but both are capable subs one is more geared towards output and the other towards clarity

The thing I need to see how much is each sub geared towards clarity or output? All I want is a sub that gets as loud as possible while still sounding decent (doesn't have to be the clearest sounding thing ever...)

Also, should I cancel my order for the Kicker amp and try to buy a mono amp instead in order to get more wattage to the sub and run all four speakers off the HU or is my previous idea better?

Thats what I have to decide. My original plan was to run my front pair of speakers off the amp and run the third channel to the sub. Couldn't I just buy a mono amp and deliver more power to the sub at the basic same cost and get almost as much power the speakers from the Head Unit for all four speakers (Does the speaker power even matter that much?)

no, most HU's don't do moch for power....your bass would drown out the front..the 550.3 will do 400 watts on a sub, maybe a Kicker Comp VR ported would be good...

So I do need an amp to power the front speaks? Could I get a mono amp and a decent/cheap 2-chan amp versus a 3 chan amp?

I already bought the Complete 4 Gauge 4 Channel Amplifier Installation Kit and 10 extra feet of wire from Knuconceptz. Should I just stick with the kicker or what?

well, also depends on what you want to spend, two amps, $$, bigger or two woofers $$
