Seriously, do a search on Hertz HSK165 on this forum and read the reviews. For 250 bucks, it doesn't get much better than that. The Hsk will rape the JL XR line much less the CR or whatever was posted.

I heard a set of jl cr's and the xr's at a local radio store. Sounded like rubbish. The guy was like "thats the best component out there (referring to the xr's) and I just walked out.

Of those two I would recommend the JLs. There are better out there though. For example I'm planning on upgrading to some Focal K2P. Good luck.

I've been doing quite a bit of research on comp sets over the last couple of weeks. From what I have seen there are two sets of 6.5 comps that consistently get very good reviews AND people see as good bang for the buck:

Coming in around $150-175: Image Dynamics (ID) CTX65CS

Coming in around $250-275: Hertz HSK 165

I've narrowed my choices down to one of those two -- or had narrowed them down to those two until I bought an Alpine 9887. Now I'm messing around with the idea of going active and buying sperate tweeters and mids...
