im not sure if this is the right section, but anyway, im getting into the car audio field, and an o-scope is a really good thing to have, so i have two questions,

hand held or benchtop?

which one? name? brand? what should i look for? help?

i like fluke and il spend whatever it costs to get a good meter that i can use for the rest of my life and work like a champ

I have a Sencore SC61 on loan from a friend who shut down his electrical shop... It is an old CRT tube but I find the CRT much easier to read than the handheld LCDs. The only down side is it is huge. I think my Honda 2000 watt generator is smaller than that bad boy!

I wouldn't mind having a handheld to work inside of a car... but for working on electronics.... The benchtop rules!

im thinking about getting the velleman from parts express, what kind of test tones do you guys use with those? i get so confused on what db and what hz to use, and are they easy to see clipping? do you just look for the tops of the waves to start squaring off?
