Which Fuse?

I just got my Diamond Audio D6 300.4 amp in today was wondering..It has two 30 amp fuse in there to equal 60 amps for all those who didnt make it pass 2nd grade. I got a 40 amp fuse with my Raptor Amp Kit, could i, and should i put that one in?

first of all you always replace a fuse like that with the same exact rating. Yes smaller would be better than larger, but you still shouldnt do it.

Are you talking about fusing the power wire? You dont fuse a power wire for the amp, you fuse it for the wire. Therefore once again here is the thread:

Just use the 40, if it pops move up to a 60.

No theres actual fuses attached to the amp...and I was wondering whats the purpose of the fuse that came with the amp install kit

You fuse the main power line close to the battery in case the wire shorts out on the chassis.

like so

BATT----FUSE----------------------------------------------------------AMP

..............................^if it shorts out here it will burn your car down to the ground, The fuse will stop that.

for all those who didnt make it pass 2nd grade....

Fuse for the melting capacity of the wire / insulation. If You dont, You will have a very dead & very hot short which could cause You to lose everything in the car to a thick black smoke & fire.

Fuse for the wire capacity.
