I can probably help you when ever you get more level headed and cure the munchies you must have. Nothing wrong with that limb but if you smoke to much you might not realize that a person that can help is being ridiculed by someone that should take the cotton out of his ears and stick it in his mouth. How do you have so many posts? Just talk alot about stuff you don;t know?

You do realize music is dynamic right? You then realize this doesnt transfer to real world power? You are familiar with impedence rise yes?

Yes its more than capable of doing over 3k watts. I dont think he was discounting that. You just wont see that kind of power in a daily system. Same with any other amp.

Oh and some specs of the 3000d, high voltage testing

Power Output at Maximum Volume before Protection:
67.4 volts

77.1 amps

5196 watts

Power supply voltage was 16.5 volts at rest dropping to around 14.5 volts. So consider this a 14.5 volt output rating.

Our clamp meter ran out of steam at 400 amps so we measured efficiency at lower levels:

3294 watts @ 84% efficiency (252 amps draw)

3938 watts @ 81% efficiency (316 amps draw)

4424 watts @ 74% efficiency (392 amps draw)

We didn't have an electrical setup to run 12.8 volt testing available at this time.

Low voltage testing

Measurements:
65.8 volts

49.2 Amps

1.33 ohm calculated rise from 0.6 ohm DCR **

3237 Watts

14.4 volts rest dropping to 10.75 volts

i didnt say the sundown wont do 3k....i said in a daily application with impedance rise its not gonna do 3kw.

using a clamp and a dmm to get some figures and multiply them wont give you anything but "apparent" power. this isnt "real world" power, its just a calculated figure. you have to account for power factor if you want any truth to those numbers, or hope for a HELL of a tiny impedance rise.

the higher the impedance rise, the farther off you're numbers are going to be...

edit: oh no, he smokes weed. that means he's automatically a moron. que the pot head jokes. oh, and i already voted for the driver i know can take a 3kw rated amp daily. but then again, i dont have experience with those other drivers

I specialize in system applications and bandpass enclosures. I have lots of tricks with cabinets I can share. This guy said he doesn't get his power all day. music is dynamic. every freq will result in a different impedance rise. none of which will ever be as low as your DCR, even at tuning.

the sundown can do 3kw+. no body is arguing that, the issue is, how snb seems to think a 3kw rated amp will be giving 3kw at every single second of the song, regardless of an impedance rise than can climb into the 2 figure range.

its like the main issue that happened with the kicker zx2500.1 thead, when people actually believed a 2500w rated amp was still making 1500+ watts at 8.9 ohms. it was nothing more than apparent power that was WAY off because there was no accounting for power factor
