It's a mere 35 bucks. There are area's in the book that I disagree with, and the security section is a bore, but it serves it's purpose. After you're done take the practice exam on the page and see how you do.

hell no I'm not certified... I don't need to waste money to get a certification to verify that I know what I already know... lol

There's enough free availible info online.. to exceed, and surpass MECP's guide..

Lloyd: MECP may not teach you anything you don't already know, but having that little certificate that says you know it means a lot to potential employers and to companies considering you as a sales rep for them. I'm trying to memorize my copy of the MECP book and get my cert right now......even if it never gets me anything, having the cert is a nice addition to any resume //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I got an 87% on the online test...that GPS bullshit screwed me up...

Yeah, it's a breeze. You just go to a library and ask if they'll proctor an exam for you, then you contact MECP via the phone number provided in the guide or on the site. 150 question multiple choice test.

Just because you have the certificate.. doesn't mean you actually remembered any concepts after you finished the test... I'd never professionally get into car audio.. too many morons for me to deal with..

Not planning on working for either of those (even if my life depended on it!)

I actually have a little plan to get my own shop going. We only have one decent audio shop in the entire four county radius, and they only stock JL, Planet Audio and Memphis.

To get Kicker, Fosgate or Fusion you have to go to Gallipolis, Ohio or for Cadence you can drive to Chillicothe, Ohio and that's a 50 mile drive either way!. I'm interested in retailing some of the brands nobody around here can get except on the internet like Audiobahn, JBL, Crossfire, Orion and maybe even some lower grade stuff since nobody but HH Gregg seems to cater to the lower end of the market.

It's not like I plan to go get this cert and automatically become Captain Audio and open up a store, but it'll help me get where I plan to be in five years. I already know enough to install pretty much anything I want, but of course there's always more to learn. I also need to get some practice with something beside building MDF boxes......maybe some glass work or plexi.
