Not planning on working for either of those (even if my life depended on it!) I actually have a little plan to get my own shop going. We only have one decent audio shop in the entire four county radius, and they only stock JL, Planet Audio and Memphis. To get Kicker, Fosgate or Fusion you have to go to Gallipolis, Ohio or for Cadence you can drive to Chillicothe, Ohio and that's a 50 mile drive either way!. I'm interested in retailing some of the brands nobody around here can get except on the internet like Audiobahn, JBL, Crossfire, Orion and maybe even some lower grade stuff since nobody but HH Gregg seems to cater to the lower end of the market. It's not like I plan to go get this cert and automatically become Captain Audio and open up a store, but it'll help me get where I plan to be in five years. I already know enough to install pretty much anything I want, but of course there's always more to learn. I also need to get some practice with something beside building MDF boxes......maybe some glass work or plexi.
