When to upgrade electrical system

I changed careers. Got tired of the volatility in the IT field and became an RN. Wanna see my nursing diploma? ;-)

Liar.

Certificate's don't mean jackshit. Experience does. Sure there may be an employer out there that requests to be certified but still BS. That employer as with any company want's proof that person is able to do the job and not hiring some joe blow off the street. People lie. Seen plenty of people come and go because they lied about having experience. Kinda like you.

That's because a lot of those don't know much about car audio (uneducated, much like yourself). They think adding amps, subs, speakers is good enough then hop onto a forum asking why their lights dim. But...your an electrical engineer so you should know right.
If my lights dimmed I would know exactly why. I'm getting a plug in digital voltmeter to keep an eye on things. If the voltage dipped to much I would do the Big 3. My system's really not pulling that much power and installer guy got some beefy wiring installed, this is gonna be FUN!

FFS, at least wire up a proper voltmeter to read voltage at the amps themselves. All you're doing with that pathetic little meter is measuring how much voltage gets to the 12v socket.

Don't give him suggestions/ideas!

Afterall, he is a *cough* EE and so he and his installer should be able to figure it out.

Yeah I have a hard time believing that his so called "installer" really is a car audio installer.

For all we know, he could be his buddy trying to install car audio. Has us fooled.

He's experienced. Does what he does on the side STS. He's built a system to win local awards. He's done all the wiring of my system:

He was really good today at installing my Damplifier Pro. He was talking about some Murdermat stuff he'd used and being kinda similar and good.

Show somw(SIC) pics then of previous installs.
I wish I had some. I've never been too interested in documenting stuff with photos, I'm more into LIVING LIFE, not taking pics of it. And we didn't have all the cheap digital pics when I built and installed my auto audio systems in my cars.

Besides, as I learned from scanning and posting my Electrical Engineering diploma, no one here believes in facts even when they are slapped in the face with them! :-(

Yep, and I'm an Electrical Engineer by degree. So that adds to my credibility in approving 100% with LosIsATool. I'm doing an install and just ordered a little plug into your power outlet (the PC term for them today, was cigarette lighter things) voltmeter to monitor my system' electrical power requirements to see if I should start thinking seriously about doing the Big 3.
John Kuthe...
Lmao that's the worse kind of volt meter. Ur measuring it at the cig lighter LMAO...u need a volt meter to plug into the amps power and ground and you get the accurate reading at the amp. Lmao and u have a electrical degree and don't know shlt

If he was that experience he'd know you don't need that many RCAs. To be honest you have a basic install.
Yes, a basic auto audio install using other people's designed and built equipment. We ALL do that. I'll bet very few if any have designed and built their own head units, DSPs, amplifiers and speakers! No, except for speaker cabinets and other mounting hardware, no one here actually designs and build their own stuff here. We all BUY it from manufacturers!

And I LIKE all my pretty purple RCAs! Custom made for ME to MY specifications!! :)

A volt meter always measures the voltage between two points in any electrical circuit. Yes you are correct the best way to measure the voltage drop of the amp is between the + and - of the amp's power connections. I'd have to use two voltmeters as I have two amps installed, and then I could watch how each amp drops the voltages as they are operating, like I don't have enough stuff to keep an eye on in this **** overcomplicated vehicle! And if anything's overtaxing the electrical power supply, like making the lights dim, etc. the voltages as measured across everything are gonna drop! Across the cigarette lighter, amps, lights, etc. Then I would have to do the Big 3 to increase the power capabilities of my vehicle's entire electrical system, which I would love to do just in principle as I know Chrysler designed and implemented just enough for their vehicle and not much more. More would have been prohibitively expensive for them!

No I mean it's a basic install. No fancy beauty panels, labeled heat shirks, ties every 6 inches, labeled connections, techflex wrapping. Detail stuff
