A volt meter always measures the voltage between two points in any electrical circuit. Yes you are correct the best way to measure the voltage drop of the amp is between the + and - of the amp's power connections. I'd have to use two voltmeters as I have two amps installed, and then I could watch how each amp drops the voltages as they are operating, like I don't have enough stuff to keep an eye on in this **** overcomplicated vehicle! And if anything's overtaxing the electrical power supply, like making the lights dim, etc. the voltages as measured across everything are gonna drop! Across the cigarette lighter, amps, lights, etc. Then I would have to do the Big 3 to increase the power capabilities of my vehicle's entire electrical system, which I would love to do just in principle as I know Chrysler designed and implemented just enough for their vehicle and not much more. More would have been prohibitively expensive for them!
