whats the problem?

when im driving with my music up my voltage drops from 13.8 to 12.5 volts at the lowest full tilt. i have a stock rewound 200 amp alt. i have industial 1/0 awg wire. its like the wire used to wire houses. its very stiff. idk if the wire is not able to carry the current or what. i recently upgraded from 2k to 3k rms. i had 2 rums of 4 gauge a redtop upfront and a spv35 an kinetik800 in the back. it would never drop elow 13 volts. i have bigger wire bigger batts and more of a voltage drop from only upgrading 1k. are these amps that current hungry or is it my electrical?

what is the problem:

a) need name brand ho alt.

b) need more batteries

c) need to switch or add more runs of wire.

d) other

i want to make sure that whatever i spend my money on fixes the problem. my setup is in my sig. thanks in advance.

Just went and got my batteries checked. The battery up front was good. Battery in the trunk tested bad. I took the back battery out and Im going to charge it today. It read 12.7 when I took it out. Im going to charge it and take it to get it tested again tomorrow out of the car. I fully charged both of my batteries before I installed them what could have caused the back one to die?

it should CHARGE at about 14.xx and REST at 12.xx he said its charging at 12.xx

yeah that is 12.7 out of the car. I would assume that its good also. This is what the guy at Advanced told me. So Im charging the battery now. I will take it back up there in the morning while its out of the car.

does the 1/0 industrial wire have 20-30 strands of copper or like a thousand inside the jacket?

12v batteries rest at 12. something so that battery is good.

You should be pretty good with a 200amp alt and 2 batteries. You are pulling 300amps with the crunch and 80 or so with the Hifonics, but your alt covers half that alone.

I say it's the wire if it is of the 20-30 strand variety.
