whats the problem?

i was kind of skeptical about the wire when i got it being that the seller had a different wire in thepic in his ad. how does strand count affect a wire conductivity if they are both 1/0 gauge wires?

I am not saying 100% that wire is your problem, but it could be.

You have a 200 amp alt and two good batteries. While another battery will not hurt and would prolly help, you should be pretty **** good with what you have now. JMHO

If it was mine, I would go to welding supply and order some 0/1 welding wire first, then add another battery later if needed.

It's prolly the same and wont matter unless it's not OFC and/or is a poor conductor . I just have never personally used it. MAybe it's not used because it's harder to install. Just saying I have never see anyone use it for car audio.

How about your grounds? Are you grounding to the frame?

Big 3?

seperate ground run then battery grounded to the chassis in the trunk. big 3 in hyperflex. i only have a 200 amp alt btw. i was already thinking of getting my wire there. then maybe adding another battery later. i guess we are on the same page. thanks for the help. i will be swapping this wire out asap.

dont use a/c volt wire for d/c volts. get that wire out it will catch fire. seen it happen.

d/c voltage travels on the surfus of the wire there for when you see wire for d.c its got lots of little strains.

a/c voltage travels though the wire thats why a/c wire is soild or big strands.

d/c is what is in your car

guy i knew used all #6 wire for a/c in his car he started a fire from the resiston on the wire cuzing heat.

stock rewound alts usaully ****, get it tested and see what it REALLY puts out

there is more to batteries than voltage, the dude testing it knows that, thats why he told you it was bad probably, it can test at 12.XX all day long but doesnt mean shit if it only puts out 100amps on a load tester, seen it plenty of times

Im going to have it tested again in the morning when I take the battery up there. I knew that a battery with seemingly good voltage could still be bad. When I asked him about this he said the test also tested for bad cells.

It was fine with 2k. I didn't start having problems until I upgraded batteries, amp, and put this wire in.

Better wire might be needed but also look onto how much power your alt puts out at idle and see if they recommend a smaller pulley.
I know for a fact that this alt. doesnt do hardly anything at idle, but right now im not worried about that. I dont sit still with my music full tilt. I will get a smaller pulley put on after I get my voltage drop problem fixed.
