whats the dumbest thing you've done during installation

well, my friend forgot to replace the ABS wire on his car.

were like " WTF is the ABS light on for ? ".

Then i asked him if he put the ABS wire on.

So we pulled over, put it back on.

Id say thats pretty dumb

I have done a few dumb things but have seen allot better!

I saw a guy zip tie a 4ga power wire to the steering columb and when the kid left he turned the wheel and blew all the fuses

I saw a guy at audio express put a screw through the outside of the body of a mercedes sl500 and then try to fix it with black silicone! "black car"

That is a few off the top of my head...

I made a bass knob out of a PC speaker amp, only problem was it's designed for 9 volts AC. The lack of opposite polarity makes it hum to the engine, so at idle my subs rumble greatly.

was impatient and lazy...didnt want to get up and find my wire stripper, tried to strip some 12 gauge wire with a scissor while sitting in passenger seat, scissor ended up sticking in my dash.

I wouldnt mount the amp ANYWHERE on a box! The vibrations could damage the amp over time!!

Vibrations also damage your ears which are pricless compared to amps but you still people cranking their systems.

The worst thing I did was in my first install...I was mounting a 2 channel amp in the back set of an 83 chevy citation and I drilled right through the floor into the top of the gas tank...drove around like that for a few days till the fumes got bad and I figured it out...glad I only paid 500 dollars for the car...ouch for the guy who put the hole in the benz tho I think I would have been straight with the guy and told him what happened, not like you wouldnt notice that the door was ozing something...

I've put a few phillips head screw drivers/screws through some speakers...

Once I touched the battery terminals together with an adjustable wrench after my power wire came loose...just about cut the wrench in half, managed to get it off the terminals before it blew up the battery though....

I bought a second hand amp and then hooked it up to the front of my car just touching the battery leads and remote to make sure it worked and started freaking out because the power light wouldn't come on. Sat out there testing it for like 15 minutes and taking the fuse out and reseating it. Turns out it was so bright I couldn't see the light being on. It was on the whole time lol.

Everyone has slipped with the drill, what really sucks is when it happens and surprises you so much you drop said drill and cave in the dustcap. That is the suxor!

wasnt able to figure out why my amp wouldnt turn on for about a half hour, then realized i took the fuse out..doh!
